Reading: Natural Healing Mechanism!

Vis medicatrix naturae (literally "the healing power of nature", and also known as natura medica) is the Latin rendering of the Greek Νόσων φύσεις ἰητροί ("Nature is the physician(s) of diseases"), a phrase attributed to Hippocrates

Hippocrates believed that an organism is not passive to injuries or disease, but rebalances itself to counteract them. The state of illness, therefore, is not a malady but an effort of the body to overcome a disturbed equilibrium. It is this capacity of organisms to correct imbalances that distinguishes them from non-living matter.

Homeostasis is the tendency of organisms to auto-regulate and maintains their internal environment in a stable state.[1][2] The stable condition is the condition of optimal functioning for the organism and is dependent on many variables, such as body temperature and fluid balance, being kept within certain pre-set limits.[3] Other variables include the pH of the extracellular fluid, the concentrations of sodiumpotassium and calcium ions, as well as that of the blood sugar level, and these need to be regulated despite changes in the environment, diet, or level of activity. Each of these variables is controlled by one or more regulators or homeostatic mechanisms, which together maintain life.
