Steamed vegetables & Vegetable Base!



  • Steaming is a healthier choice than many other cooking techniques like frying, boiling, etc..
  • Steaming the vegetables will help us receive most nutrition and taste out of  the vegetables.
  • Through steaming Vegetables gets cooked in little time (3 to 7 minutes).
  • Idli steamer or a food steamer can be used for steaming vegetables

Steamed Vegetable Recipe:

Steamed vegetables are soft & tasty, it doesn't require spices and salt for taste but if one is habituated to spices and salt or prefers making it a recipe these guidelines can be followed to create a conservative recipe.
  • Steam vegetables of your choice and transfer it in a large vessel
  • Add coconut gratings and/or a Vegetable Base*
  • Add little amount of Spices as per your taste needs ( pepper, coriander powder, jeera powder,. ) and Salt
  • Season with coriander and greens of your choice
  • Mix all the ingredients

*Vegetable Base Recipe:

Vegetable Base can be used for Making Conservatively cooked Sambar, Kuruma, Sabji, Soups, etc..

Ingredients:
  • Watery Vegetables of your Choice (Ash gourd, Pumpkin, Chow Chow, etc.. )
  • Green Gram Sprout ( Optional)
  • Tomatoes (Optional)
  • Ginger, Curry Leaves, Coriander Leaves (Optional)
Preparation:
  • Steam/ Boil the above ingredients
  • Cool and Finely grind it as a paste in the preferred consistency
