Solar Therapy (Sunbathing) - English !

Exposure to sunlight is essential for our improved health even while it takes us on the path of our return to Nature. Sunlight is essential for all living forms on earth; it is not merely a provider of Vitamin D that scientists ascribe to sunlight. Gone are the days when man lived roaming under the gaze of the sun. Today’s “civilized” being hardly ever gets to see the sun. In the present day scenario, daily sunbathing has all the more become a must.

Suitable Time: Morning or evening hours is the ideal time since mild sunlight does wonders for physical wellbeing. Those who are unable to do it at these hours could do it at any daylight hour available to them but should restrict themselves to just a few minutes of exposure. One must return to shade even before the body begins to feel the heat of the sun.

Duration: Until one feels the body becoming mildly warm. Or for an average of 10 to 20 minutes.

  • While thus exposed to the sun’s rays, one should take care that the head and face are in shade. In other words, one should ensure that neither the heat nor light of the sun falls on the head or face. A towel, preferably a moist towel, can be wrapped around this region.
  • One should ensure that the maximum possible body area gets exposed to sunlight. In particular, exposure to disease-affected portions and one’s private parts brings immense benefits. But for those who can have a full-body exposure, exposure of every bodily region is a must, excepting, of course,  head and face.
  • Those who lack the opportunity,  that is privacy, for a whole-body exposure
    • May wear an absolute minimum of clothing
    • Or wear light, well ventilated, clothing of cotton material.
    • Or sunbathe at least the affected portions of the body.

Note:  The purpose of sunbathing is to receive sunlight, and not to absorb the heat of its rays. This means even during cold, rainy, or cloudy weather one may have a sunbath and reap benefits.
